“THE COMPLETE STONE ROSES” ADD SECOND NIGHT IN AID OF CANCER RESEARCH UK

Glasgow Carling Academy December 8th 2007

Due to overwhelming demand, Scot’s tribute ace’s “The Complete Stone Roses” have announced a 2nd consecutive night at Glasgow’s Carling Academy venue on Saturday 8th December (their first night on 7th December now only has a few remaining tickets left) and after discussions between the band members, their management and promoters “Academy Events”, they have decided that all profit made from the 2nd night will be given directly to Cancer Research UK, Scotland. Registered charity No: 1089464

Brian McGhee, lead vocalist for The Complete Stone Roses says ”cancer IS a major issue , I’ve just lost someone close to me through cancer and unfortunately a lot of people have to deal with it at some point in their lives whether that be directly or indirectly so if we can do even a little to help then I’m all for it, we obviously want to try and raise as much money as possible with the help of our Glasgow fan base so should we sell out this second night then we will be looking at raising a sum close to around £15,000 to give to CRUK

An average lab gets through around 30 boxes of gloves each month and one box of 100 gloves costs £4 so a lab uses £120 worth of gloves a month. Scientists wear lab coats to protect their clothes from chemicals and also to protect their experiments from contamination and so on, laboratory coat costs £15. Water baths are fundamental pieces of laboratory equipment that are used on a daily basis by scientists and one water bath costs between £250 and £750. Liquid nitrogen storage tanks are used to store cells that are not needed for immediate experiments in such a way that they are not damaged and one liquid nitrogen storage tank costs £2,000. Running a typical Cancer Research UK laboratory costs approximately £450,000 a year. Rosie Quinn, Area Volunteer Manager for Cancer Research UK said: ”Together with its partners and supporters like “The Complete Stone Roses”, Cancer Research UK’s vision is to beat cancer and the funds raised at this event will help ensure that this vital work continues

Jon Wing, promoter of the night adds “Academy Events as the National Promoter for TCSR are delighted to be part of such an event that brings together one of Scotland’s biggest selling artists in their hometown of Glasgow to help raise funds and profile for Cancer Research Scotland UK

The band will announce special guests as and when they are confirmed but to start the ball rolling, we are pleased to announce at this stage, the inclusion of Peter Hook from New Order who, as well as offering his services for free, will be playing a few songs with The Completes live onstage including the debut single, double a-side Love Will Tear Us Apart (ala stone roses style) and Tell Me Moses (the song they wrote using ONLY titles from the catalogue of Stone Roses songs)
